An important part of our mission at Catalysis is to help educate future healthcare leaders. Each year two interns join the Catalysis team to help us inspire healthcare leaders and accelerate change.

Meet Michael:

Where did you get your name?Headshot photo

I am a Junior so my name came from my father.

Where are you originally from?

Southwest suburbs of Chicago, Plainfield, Illinois

What about Catalysis attracted you?

I was very intrigued to learn about the inner workings of a company that implements lean principles into healthcare. I never fully realized until this summer the need for efficiency within hospitals and healthcare facilities.

What do you hope to get out of this experience?

I hope to become familiar with some of the language that the corporate and lean world entails; learning terms such as Gemba and Kibosh were new to me until my first day. I also hope to gain more knowledge on the process and management of creating and distributing lean principles and just how a team comes together to bring about new and innovative ideas for the better of the healthcare community.

What is your dream job?

I would like to be a CEO one day, leading and navigating an organization in the changing world of medicine.

What do you like doing in your free time?

I like to work-out; lifting weights, shooting hoops, or going on a nice run around the neighborhood.

Name something on your bucket list.

I would like to travel to France, specifically the Provence-Alpes Cote d’Azur and visit a couple of cities like Marseille, Cannes, and the Alpes.

What is your favorite sport to watch and play?

I live, breath, sleep basketball, go Bulls!

Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?

Wash dishes, not as loud as vacuuming, not as nasty as the bathroom, not as tedious as mowing the lawn.

If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

Teleportation, without a doubt. The idea to be anywhere and everywhere within the blink of an eye would be a dream come true.
