Appleton, Wisconsin (March 19, 2015) — The ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value welcomes two new members to its networks. New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, has joined the Center’s Clinical Business Intelligence Network (CBIN) and Reliant Medical Group in Worcester, Massachusetts, recently joined the Healthcare Value Network (HVN).
Both networks are peer-to-peer learning communities, respectively bringing together healthcare leaders in clinical analytics and business intelligence, and those focused on providing high-quality, cost-effective care through the application of lean concepts.
Clinical Business Intelligence Network
CBIN members receive direct access to other healthcare business intelligence thought leaders through events and educational programs offered via the network. “CBIN unites healthcare leaders who are responsible for the content, flow and access of information to support and accelerate their organization’s journey toward becoming a high value delivery system,” said Brian Veara, director of the CBIN.
Members also have opportunities for Gemba visits (a site visit to another member organization) to see firsthand how CBI is being implemented. Collaborating with other CBIN members accelerates the spread of clinical business intelligence by helping them realize greater value from their data and by supporting the performance improvement journeys of their organizations.
New Hanover looks forward to the opportunities this network provides. “We have just begun our BI journey and are excited for the opportunity to connect with others further along on their journey in order to adopt best practices and avoid missteps,” said Kristy Hubard, administrator, business analysis and planning atNew Hanover. “We fully embrace the concepts of peer to peer learning, so we are equally excited about sharing insight with others to assist all of us in advancing our analytics capabilities in order to continuously feed our performance improvement efforts.”
Healthcare Value Network
HVN members also share knowledge, conduct real-world experiments and access the best resources to accelerate their organizations’ lean transformations. Mike Stoecklein, director of the HVN, shared the importance of adding new members to the network. “Having a variety of healthcare systems in the network expands member opportunities to collaborate with a diverse group of lean healthcare leaders,” he said.
Established in 2009, the network was founded by the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value and the Lean Enterprise Institute. It is now an integral part of the Center and its healthcare mission.
“There are many problems in our healthcare industry and they are similar no matter where you go. HVN provides a mechanism for us to connect with colleagues across North America and share what we have learned as we tackle our specific problems in our specific circumstances and provoke each other to think more broadly about the problems we face,” said Eric Buehrens, executive vice president, business development, and chief operating officer, Reliant Medical Group. “Given the complex structures within healthcare, we understand we must tackle both the social and economic issues, and the misalignment they cause if we are to improve the process of value creation for our patients. There is a lot to do, and we are excited to be a part of the HVN community.”
