Engaged adult learners and practitioners understand the why behind methods and practices they are asked to adopt. During a lean transformation, the support and buy-in of operational leaders are key factors in the successful implementation of new work processes. Not only is this group called to implement change, they must also behave differently, becoming teachers, coaches, and mentors, and spend more time in the work. During this education experience, participants will learn, practice, and see firsthand the application of lean principles and core lean methods through a series of lectures, and exercises.
Following completion of this learning session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the fundamental principles of lean.
- Understand how core lean methods and mindsets can be applied to improve healthcare.
- Trace how core lean mindsets led to the development and use of core lean tools and methods.
- Practice using key lean tools and methods that can be readily applied in work environments.
