CEOs from organizations undergoing a transformation toward value creation through lean or other methods must have the informed support of their Board of Directors to succeed. Yet today, members of the Board at many healthcare organizations are currently not exposed to the daily challenges of staff and providers which drive the need for change, nor do they have enough of an understanding of the thinking behind the methods being applied by operational leadership to be effective in their role in the change process. This program addresses these challenges by showcasing the experience of a Board member of an organization that has successfully implemented the lean operating system, guiding Board members through purposeful visits to the frontlines, and introducing key lean concepts as well as a set of principles they can use as a foundation to engineer change at the governance level.

- Alignment of the executive team and Board of Directors around lean as a proven strategy to face the challenges of the healthcare market.
- A plan to achieve informed, directional support by Board members for the cultural transformation required to reach zero waste, zero defects, reliable processes, and value creation for patients and staff.
